Accounts Payable Clerk

Our client, I-XL Building Products (www.ixlbuild.com), has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their head office in Surrey, BC.

I-XL is a fourth generation family owned company and they are Western Canada’s leading supplier of brick, manufactured stone and natural stone.  They have been helping owners, builders, designers and architects create beauty and long lasting value with brick and stone products since 1912.

In this newly created role, you will report to the Controller. This position will not only handle accounts payable but assist with answering phone calls and greeting clients to the head office. This role performs their function in a way that clearly delivers the message “I-XL is a professional organization that is easy to do business with”. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who takes a great deal of pride in their responsibilities; and has good time management and organizational skills.


  • Preparation of bank deposits.
  • Matching Accounts Payable invoices and preparing cheques for payments.
  • Take ownership of all general office administrative tasks including; office supplies, filing, faxing, mail, arranging and receiving of couriers, etc.
  • Answer phone inquiries and greet clients/suppliers/visitors to the organization using your positive, professional and friendly manner.
  • Other general office and AP duties as assigned.


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years reception/administrative experience.
  • 1-2 years' Accounts Payable experience.
  • Excellent phone manner and experience in customer service/relations.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize.
  • Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with clients.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Technically savvy: knows how to use, access and multi-task between different programs.
  • Intermediate level MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Positive and professional demeanor.
  • Reliable, punctual and demonstrates initiative.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, professional team player.
  • Proven commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiasm for learning in a fast-paced environment and readily adaptable to change.
