Aggregate Sales Representative

Our client, Murrin Construction (murrin.ca) is a leading provider of aggregates and dimension stone in the Sea-To-Sky area and beyond. Due to continued growth, they are excited to be adding a qualified individual to lead the sales and marketing efforts. The Sales/Marketing Representative will be based out of the North Vancouver office with 50% travel within the designated territory. (Lower Mainland to Sea-to-Sky).

Murrin was founded in 1978 as a family-owned business. Since then, they have supplied millions of tons of rocks to customers and have been involved with many of Vancouver’s most significant infrastructure projects. Today, they sell over 200,000 metric tonnes of aggregate from their offices in North Vancouver and their 2 quarries in the Sea-to-Sky corridor.

This position will run all aspects of sales and marketing for the family owned and operated quarry.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, energetic and driven by exceptional customer service and sales skills, preferably within an aggregate/construction environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with the owners and managers to develop and implement new business opportunities.
  • Comprehensive sales and marketing of aggregate services to all end users. Customer base includes private general and site contractors, municipalities, commercial businesses and various agencies within Vancouver and the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
  • Representing Murrin and spending a majority of the time in the field strengthening those relationships, closing sales and prospecting for new leads.
  • Follow up on all sales/quotes in a timely manner.
  • Keep current on marketing conditions and the activities of competitors.
  • Develop and strengthen relations with existing customers.
  • Development of new customers.
  • Strive to provide excellent service to all our clients.
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Properly follow all company policies and regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
  • Utilization of CRM as the primary sales tool for all leads, key customer management, and information portal.
  • Prepare required paperwork, including quotes, bid documents, contracts, subcontracts, job worksheets, special price forms, credit approvals, billing reports, sales reports/information request, etc. accurately and in a timely manner.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in aggregate/construction sales.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the Vancouver aggregates market.
  • Existing relationships with large development and construction companies are a plus.
  • General understanding of sales and marketing fundamentals.
  • Proficient computer skills required, primarily web-based applications, Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and think outside the box.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, professional team player.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
