Senior Accountant

Our Richmond based manufacturing client with multiple franchises across Canada has a requirement for an experienced Senior Accountant to join their team.

This role will be a key member of management and be responsible for full cycle accounting for 2 companies in addition to providing financial reporting and analytical support within the corporate accounting team.  This role touches on all aspects of accounting from Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Payroll, and other special projects as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Full cycle accounting, preparing month-end and year-end financial statements along with related working papers.
  • Prepare management reports as required and assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts and the performance of ad hoc analysis.
  • Presenting the various accounting reports to the management and making suitable observations and recommendations.
  • Set up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting.
  • Lead and take ownership of the company’s monthly and yearly closing. Ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.
  • Prepare working papers for quarterly reviews and annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
  • Ensures the delivery and receipt of accurate and timely information from franchisees.
  • Oversees financial reporting for franchises using our accounting services.
  • Checks royalty calculations.
  • Collects past due accounts receivable balances for franchises.
  • Train and supervise accounting staff (1).
  • Participation in various ad hoc projects or other duties as assigned by the President. 
  • Must have a comprehensive technical and functional understanding, be willing and able to process all accounting processes (i.e. AR, AP, bank reconciliations, cash management, general ledger, financial prep, and review).
  • Process payroll.
  • Reconcile GST and PST in multiple provinces.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Accounting designation or working towards one.
  • Minimum 3- 5 years accounting experience in a medium sized manufacturing company.
  • Knowledge of IFRS Standards.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Advanced Excel).
  • Proficiency in using Sage.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.
  • Executed or significantly participated in A/P and Payroll processes.
  • You will possess a high level of moral judgment and integrity for handling confidential information and monetary transactions.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with franchisees would be an asset.
  • Ability to establish priorities, multi-task, and provide accurate and timely information.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to consistently show initiative that adds value to the organization.
  • Reliable, adaptable, detail oriented, and focused.
  • Ability to deal effectively and diplomatically with people at all levels in the organization.
